HMRC may work with other government departments, agencies or public authorities on joint operations to tackle local and national issues such as illegal working or the illegal economy.

When carrying out any joint working with other government agencies you must always carry out any compliance check in line with the:

• Standard Working Instructions (SWIs)

• Compliance Handbook, see CH200000

• Compliance Operational Guidance (COG).

This guidance identifies the key issues you will need to address when carrying out joint working and includes links to the relevant guidance in the Compliance Handbook and the Compliance Operational Guidance.
