The Basel Accord

The UK’s rules on regulatory capital for banks operate within the framework of an international agreement known as the Basel Accord. The Basel Committee on banking supervision is a committee of the Bank for International Settlements. Capital Requirements Directive IV

The Basel Accord’s principles are implemented in the European Union through the Capital Requirements Directive IV (CRD IV) which includes the Capital Requirements Regulation (575/2013). See the PRA website for more details on CRD IV.
