IPT06450 | Maintaining the IPT Register: Transfer of going concerns (TOGC): Requesting a new IPT registration

From HM Revenue & Customs · Insurance Premium Tax

The adoption of the TOGC provisions, and the assumption by the transferee of the considerable obligations spelled out on the IPT 68 in particular, is voluntary and subject to the mutual agreement of the transferor and transferee. There is no question of a transferee being obliged to use the IPT 68 form.

It is always open to the transferee to request a new registration rather than adopt the TOGC procedures. In that case the registration is dealt with as a new registration as explained in IPT06205onwards.
