From HM Revenue & Customs · Stamp Taxes on Shares Manual

Where a unit under a unit trust scheme is surrendered to the scheme manager under the terms of FA99/SCH19/PARA2(1) and the surrender occurred before 30 March 2014, the trustees of the unit trust are liable to a SDRT charge at 0.5% of the market value of the surrendered unit (Regulation 4B Stamp Duty Reserve Tax Regulations 1986 (SI 1986/1711)).

The charge may be proportionately reduced by reference to units issued by and exempt investments held by the trustee(s).
