Example of the types of information that could be considered / requested when deciding a shared care case where two people from different households have responsibility for children

A shared care case is a good example of a case where a wide variety of evidence will be considered. In these cases the DM will be considering amongst other things:

• who does the child live with?

• from what date?

• does the child live with anyone else?

• if yes, who do they live with and from when?

• what is the child’s main contact?

• how many nights a week does the child stay with this person?

• are there different arrangements during the school and other holidays?

• who buys clothes, shoes and food for this child?

• who arranges school, nursery or childcare places?

• who takes and picks up this child from nursery etc?

• what is the address held for the child’s medical records?

• who cares for this child when they are ill?

• who does their washing?

• is there a court order over this child?
