From HM Revenue & Customs · Tobacco: Anti-smuggling or the duty to avoid facilitating smuggling

FBDIT has a designated team, Project Falcon who:

  • collate intelligence and seizure data relating to the tobacco manufacturers, their controls for avoiding facilitating smuggling and current smuggling risks

  • recommend to LB where they believe a brand, country or persons should be specified (see section 4000)

  • actively engage with HMRC and Border Force teams to ensure relevant notifiable seizures are identified

  • identify relevant sub-notifiable seizures and intelligence to be provided to the tobacco manufacturers under the Memorandum of Understanding agreements
