Tobacco Products Duty Act 1979 section 8JA to 8JC

This is the primary legislation which permits the making of regulations concerning:

• the operation of the Tobacco Track and Trace system

• new sanctions for contraventions

• a legal gateway to disclose information

The Tobacco Products (Traceability and SecurityFeatures) Amendment) Regulations 2023

These regulations came into force on 20 July 2023 and made amendments to The Tobacco Products (Traceability and Security Features)Regulations 2019 including who will be affected by the introduction of the sanctions and how they will be applied.
