TRSM92030 | How to: contents: claim a trust and authorise an agent: contents: changing or removing an agent

From HM Revenue & Customs · Trust Registration Service Manual

To change an authorised agent, the trustee will need to authorise the new agent using the ‘digital handshake’ – see TRSM92020. Any new authorisation received will replace any existing authority, removing the previous agent.

Agent authorisation will continue until removed by the trustee or agent. The trustee must retain the email sent by their agent during the authorisation process. They may need to use the link within the email if they decide to remove the agent.

Guidance to remove agent authorisation is also set out at https://www.gov.uk/guidance/change-or-remove-your-tax-agents-authorisation

Digitally excluded trustees will need to contact the Trusts Helpline to change or remove an agent.
