TSEM5910 | Trusts for particular purposes: trusts administered by the Official Solicitor and Public Trustee: grants for minors

The Official Solicitor will act for an estate where the beneficiaries are minors and there is no one else suitable or willing to act, for example where one parent has been unlawfully killed by the other. A person with a prior right to obtain a grant may have no power to do so after being convicted of unlawful killing. Where there is no one else with parental responsibility for the minor, or in certain other appropriate cases, the Official Solicitor will take out the grant of representation to protect the interests of minors and will act on their behalf.
