VATGPB8160 | Other local authority activities: welfare: Supporting People introduction

This initiative, run by the Department of Communities and Local Government (DCLG), focuses on planning and improving housing related support services for vulnerable people, including the homeless, older people and those fleeing domestic violence. The aim is to prevent hospitalisation, institutional care or homelessness by providing support.

The funding is by local government grant from the DCLG, paid to and administered by 150 lead authorities. They in turn run the programme through partnerships with local housing and social services, health and probation services.
