From HM Revenue & Customs · Capital Gains Manual

SI2006/964

Shares in OEICs are expected to be bought and sold in the same way as units in an authorised unit trust, that is through the authorised corporate director (the broad equivalent of the authorised unit trust manager). The authorised corporate director will normally publish share prices regularly and these will appear in the financial pages of newspapers - shares in OEICs will have a single price only, unlike units in an authorised unit trust for which `bid' and `offer' prices are published. If a price was not published on the day for which you need a value, use the price for the latest day before.

You should normally accept the value given by the taxpayer. If, unusually, you need to check a valuation given, you should send a brief note to Capital Gains Technical Group and Shares and Assets Valuation (SAV) setting out the circumstances.
