The Radio Communications Agency held:

• general information about the regulation of radio,

• details of the auctions of wireless telegraphy licences,

• the Wireless Telegraphy Acts and Regulations.

However it ceased to exist on 29 December 2003 and Ofcom, the Office of Communications, assumed its duties. Ofcom is the new communications sector regulator and has wide-ranging responsibilities. Ofcom inherited the duties of the five existing regulators it replaces: the Broadcasting Standards Commission (BSC), the Independent Television Commission (ITC), Oftel, the Radio Authority and the Radio Communications Agency.
