To calculate and charge interest clerically

  • use BROCS transaction INT Formats 1 and 3.

To do this

  • access Format 1 from Prime Format or Next? and complete as follows

  • Function code INT

  • taxpayer reference

  • ASN

  • Format Identity Code VP in the DETAILS field.

Format 1 displays all payment and tax/NIC charge postings

  • call up Format 3 by entering Y in the CALCULATE INT? field

  • use Format 3 to

  • view the calculation

  • raise the charge, as appropriate.

Creating ‘nil’ interest charges

To create a NIL interest charge on an employer's record, for example where an exempt employer is given the wrong section code, use Formats 2 and 3 of BROCS transaction INT.
