Using the following systems a return can be viewed before (or after) it reaches BROCS.

Tracking tool

The Channel Routing Interface Service (ChRIS) tracks the progress of the employer annual return as it progresses through the end-of-year process and displays the information in the tracking tool.

The tracking tool is used to record the progress of the return as it goes through the stages of the end-of-year process, records the annual return or return deletion information and records outgoing complete annual return details.

The tracking tool shows what action has been taken on the return and at what stage it is at in the end-of-year process.

Where the return was submitted as a complete return, this does not necessarily mean that the return has passes the QS checks.

Any errors on the returns are created as work items by ChRIS and the Central Exception Processing Team (CEPT) will work these cases.

The tracking tool can be accessed as follows.

  • Open My Workplace

  • Select Corporate Services

  • Select Tools

  • Select Track Messages - All

  • Select PAYE

  • Select PAYE End of Year (EOY)

E-service filestore

The e-service filestore allows you to view any P35 and P14s submitted by paper, magnetic media, or online, after it has been processed by ChRIS. You can see the Tax/NIC data from the front of the P35, but not the list of the P14s submitted from the back of the P35.

This facility to view a return is very useful for cessation cases where the return is received online and in-year, as you will be able to view the return as soon as it is processed by ChRIS, before it shows on BROCS.

To view a P35:

  • select ‘Find P35’

  • enter the Employer’s Reference and year.

To view a P14:

  • select ‘Find P14’

  • enter the employer’s PAYE reference number and year (to improve the search, you can also enter either the employee’s NINO, date of birth, gender and name).
