The sheriff clerk is the clerk to the sheriff court and his/her powers and duties are varied. The sheriff clerk acts as clerk in every matter over which a sheriff has jurisdiction. This includes the organisation of the work of the court, assistance to the sheriff in court and the keeping of records. It is the sheriff clerk who arranges to have summary warrants presented to the sheriff for signature and notifies parties involved of any matters arising thereafter for example, appeals that may require to be heard before the sheriff.
