From HM Revenue & Customs · PAYE Manual

Whilst reviewing tax calculations (PAYE96220) within a multiple year reconciliation that has been triggered manually, you have the final option to approve them for issue (PAYE96225) or to cancel them. In cases where you are not content with the calculations and you wish to cancel them you should do so by selecting the Cancel Multiple Tax calculations action link in the Multiple Years Reconciliation Summary screen. Where you do this and

  • All years covered within the cancelled multiple year reconciliation were 2008-09 onwards or, if 2007-08 and earlier and they were previously reconciled on the PAYE Service

  • All calculations within the multiple year reconciliation will be cancelled

  • Details of the calculations will not be retained on the system to allow them to be viewed at a later date

  • You will be returned to the Reconciliation Summary screen (PAYE93015) in which the details displayed will be unchanged from those recorded prior to the cancelled multiple year reconciliation being triggered

  • One or more of the years covered within the cancelled multiple year reconciliation is 2007-08 and earlier and it has not previously been reconciled on the PAYE Service

  • All calculations within the multiple year reconciliation will be cancelled including any Simple Assessment years

  • Details of the calculations will not be retained on the system to allow them to be viewed at a later date

  • You will be returned to the Reconciliation Summary screen (PAYE93015) in which the details displayed, with the exception of years previously shown as ‘Reconciled - Balanced’, will be unchanged from those recorded prior to the cancelled multiple year reconciliation being triggered. For years previously ‘Reconciled - Balanced’ the Reconciliation Summary screen ‘Status’ field will be blank and for all years where this is so you must restore the year(s) concerned to ‘Reconciled - Balanced’ (by manually selecting the Set Reconciled - Balanced action link for the years(s)) before you exit the screen

  • Where a multiple year reconciliation result shows a Simple Assessment year (displayed as ‘Y’ in the Simple Assessment field on the multiple year reconciliation summary screen), you will be required to cancel the multiple year reconciliation before completing any further action
