Website Terms of Use

Version 1.0 — 12 October 2026.

1. About these terms

These terms apply when you use solved.legal without signing in. That includes reading pages, using the search page and sending us feedback.

The website is run by Solved Technologies Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales with company number 17359939, whose registered office is at 32 Dean Court Road, Cumnor Hill, Oxford, England, OX2 9XD.

You can contact us at [email protected]. We are registered with the Information Commission (the ICO) under reference ZC256813. In these terms, "we", "us" and "Solved" mean Solved Technologies Ltd.

By using the website, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it.

If you have a Solved account, our Terms of Service apply instead whenever you are signed in or using our MCP.

Our Privacy Notice explains how we handle personal data, and our Cookie and Storage Policy explains our use of device storage.

2. Using the website

The website is free to use. You may use it for your own research, study and work, whether you are acting personally or for an organisation.

Some content and features are available only when you are signed in to a Solved account, for example case law and enhanced navigation between sources. Those are provided under our Terms of Service, not these terms.

We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of the website at any time. We do not promise that it will always be available or free of errors.

The website is intended for adults. It is not designed for anyone under 18.

3. What you must not do

You must not:

  • send personal data or client information in a search or feedback message (other than your own email address, if you want a reply). Search using legal terms, citations and concepts instead;
  • try to access content or features that are available only to signed-in users without signing in;
  • use automated tools, scripts, bots or AI agents to access, search, copy or download the website, except search engines indexing it in line with our robots.txt. Programmatic access is available only through our MCP server, under our Terms of Service;
  • copy, extract or re-use a substantial part of our own content or database (see section 4) to build or support a product or service that competes with Solved;
  • interfere with the website's security or operation. That includes probing or testing for vulnerabilities, overloading it, getting around rate limits or Turnstile, and introducing malicious code; or
  • use the website for anything unlawful, or in a way that infringes anyone else's rights.

4. Content

There are two kinds of content on the website, and different rules apply to each.

Official public-sector content. Legislation, HMRC manuals and other public-sector information on the website come from legislation.gov.uk and GOV.UK. They are Crown copyright and are used under the Open Government Licence v3.0. Your right to re-use that material comes from the Open Government Licence itself, not from us. Where you re-use it, the licence's attribution requirements apply, and these terms do not restrict any right it gives you.

Solved's own content. Everything else belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by copyright, database right and other intellectual property rights. This includes the way we structure, link and cross-reference sources, our definition mappings, summaries, software, design and branding. You may view it, and print or save extracts for your own reference. Any other use needs our written permission.

5. Not legal or tax advice

Solved is a research tool. Nothing on the website is legal, tax or other professional advice, and you should not rely on it as advice.

We update official sources daily, but there may be a delay between a change being published at source and it appearing on Solved.

Our links, cross-references and definitions are produced partly by automated means and may contain errors.

Before relying on any provision, check it against the official source. If the matter is important, take professional advice.

6. Feedback

If you send us feedback, we may use it to improve Solved without paying you or owing you anything. Please do not include personal data or client information in feedback, except your own email address if you want a reply.

7. Links

Where the website links to other sites, such as legislation.gov.uk or GOV.UK, we are not responsible for their content or availability.

8. Our responsibility to you

If you are using the website as a consumer: we provide the website free of charge. We are responsible for loss you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable. Because you are using the website for personal purposes, we are not responsible for any loss of profit, loss of business or business interruption.

If you are using the website for a business: to the fullest extent the law allows, we exclude all implied conditions, warranties and other terms. We will not be liable to you for any loss or damage, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty or otherwise, arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, the website or your reliance on its content. That includes loss of profits, revenue, business, opportunity, goodwill or data, and any indirect or consequential loss. If, despite this, we are found liable to you, our total liability arising out of or in connection with your use of the website is limited to £100.

In every case, nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded by law.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version in force when you use the website applies. The date of the current version is shown below.

10. Law and courts

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.

  • If you are a consumer, you may bring proceedings in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
  • If you are using the website for a business, the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
