Suggested answer

If you have never attended a course in higher education and have never received an income contingent student loan (loans advanced since August 1998) then you should not be making student loan and or Postgraduate Loan (PGL) repayments.

If deductions appear to be being made in error you should first speak to your employer/ payroll department. If this wasnt a payroll error and your employer had been instructed by HMRC to start making deductions then you should Contact the Student Loans Company (SLC) to explain that you are not a borrower.

Note: HMRC only instructs employers to start making deductions on the advice of SLC. HMRC does not hold any loan information.
