SW06110 | Create a Room: Room Purpose

From HM Revenue & Customs · Shared Workspace Business Manual

The Shared Workspace Live Service Support Team approves the creation of each Shared Workspace Room. This is done after considering the Room purpose stated in the creation process.

The HMRC Business Authorising Officer (BAO) is responsible for ensuring that the use of the Room remains within this purpose.

Shared Workspace Rooms must be designed to meet only one purpose. If a new purpose arises a separate Room must be created.

For further information refer to BAO Roles and Responsibilities SW04205.

There may be occasions where there is a requirement for a separate Room within Shared Workspace to cover Corporate Responsibility activities including:

  • Volunteering programme information and updates;

  • Notification of fund raising activities.

In such instances it is important for the Business Authorising Officers to ensure:

  • All contributors follow the guidelines shown in the Acceptable Use Policy

  • The information contains only the facts surrounding the events and does not contain links to other sites. If further information is required, interested parties should contact the author of the message directly.

Staff should note that there is a designated HMRC Staff Notice Board on the intranet where all staff fundraising activities are advertised
