The fixed costs for starting an action in the county court varies according to the amount of the debt, as shown in the following table. The fixed costs below apply from 6 April 2011.

| Exceeds £1,000 but not £5,000 | £53 |

| Exceeds £50,000 but not £100,000 | £113 |
| Exceeds £100,000 but not £150,000 | £127 |
| Exceeds £150,000 but not £200,000 | £140 |
| Exceeds £200,000 but not £250,000 | £153 |
| Exceeds £250,000 but not £300,000 | £167 |
