ECSH45800 | Fit and proper and approvals: contents: operational guidance: requesting further information from a business, beneficial owner, officer or manager

From HM Revenue & Customs · Economic Crime Supervision Handbook

If the decision maker (DM) needs to request further information from a business or beneficial owner, officer, or manager (BOOM), they should initially request this via an email or phone call.

New applications

If no response is received or the BOOM cannot be contacted, the DM should then request this information via a notice to provide further information under regulation 57(3). If there is still no response after a formal request for information, the DM should refuse the business’ application. Further guidance on the refusal process is available in ECSH47532.

Existing registrations

If no response is received or the BOOM cannot be contacted, the DM should then request this information via notice to provide further information under regulation 66. If no response is received by the deadline specified in the notice, the DM should pursue a type 4 penalty.
