TCM1000077 | How to check if award period overlaps start date of Fast Track new child claim

Step 1

On the ‘Function Menu’

  • select ‘Award’ on the toolbar

  • select ‘View’ from the options available. You will be taken to the ‘Key Entry Data’ screen

  • enter the customer’s NINO

  • select the ‘All’ checkbox

  • select ‘OK’. You will be taken to the ‘Select Award’ screen

  • select the version at the top of the list

  • select ‘OK’. You will be taken to the ‘Award Summary’ screen

  • make a note of the end date of the most recent award.

Note: You will need to repeat the above for each of the customers on the Fast Track claim you have received.

If you already know the start date of the Fast Track new child claim you have received, go to Step 2.

If you do not already know the start date of the Fast Track new child claim you have received, go to Step 3.

Step 2

Where the award end date is

  • on or after the start date of the Fast Track new child claim - the award period does overlap

  • before the start date of the Fast Track new child claim - the award period does not overlap.

Step 3

Note: For tax credit claims received before 06-04-2012 the correct effective date will be either the earliest of the dates noted or the date 93 days prior to the date the claim was received. For tax credit claims received on or after 06-04-2012 the correct effective date will be either the earliest of the dates noted or the date 31 days prior to the date the claim was received.

Look on the Appendix 44 and make a note of the date provided

  • in the ‘Effective date of claim’ box

  • in the ‘Date submitted’ box

Look at the TC600 claim form and make a note of the date of birth of the youngest child or the date the customer became responsible for the child, if the date is different

then

  • where the end date of the award is on or later than today’s date, the award period will overlap the start date of the Fast Track new child claim you have received

  • where the end date of the award is later than the date in the ‘Effective date of claim’ box, the award period will overlap the start date of the Fast Track new child claim you have received

  • where there is no date in the ‘Effective date of claim’ box and the end date of the award is later than the youngest child’s date of birth but within 31 days of the date in the ‘Date submitted’ box, the award period will overlap the start date of the Fast Track new child claim you have received

  • in any other case, the award period will not overlap the start date of the Fast Track new child claim you have received.
