TCM1000353 | How to check for exception changes within the four-week run-on period

Step 1
On the ‘Function Menu’
select ‘Application’ on the toolbar
select ‘Change of Circumstances’ from the options available. You will be taken to the ‘Key Entry Data’ screen
enter the customer’s NINO
select the ‘All’ checkbox
select ‘OK’. You will be taken to the ‘Applicant Details’ screen.
If you are taken to the ‘Select Household’ screen
select the relevant claim
select ‘OK’. You will be taken to the ‘Applicant Details’ screen
go to Step 2.
If you are taken to the ‘Select Application’ screen
select the relevant claim
select ‘OK’. You will be taken to the ‘Applicant Details’ screen
go to Step 2.
If you are taken straight to the ‘Applicant Details’ screen, go to Step 2.
Step 2
Check if the claim has ceased because Universal Credit has been claimed. For how to do this, use TCM1000013.
If the claim has not ceased, go to Step 3.
If UC has been claimed within 28 days of the decrease in hours or the job ending
the run on period will end the day before the UC start date
take no further action.
Step 3
From the ‘Applicant Details’ screen, select ‘Ch’ on the toolbar. You will be taken to the ‘Child Details’ screen.
If all the children have an end responsibility date
check the dates to see if the responsibility for the last child leaving the household was within 28 days of the decrease in hours or the job ending and make a note on the TC648 of the date
go to Step 4.
If any of the children have not got an end responsibility date, go to Step 5.
Step 4
If the last child left the household within 28 days of the decrease in hours or the job ending
make a note of the date on the TC648
go to Step 5.
If the last child did not leave the household within 28 days of the decrease in hours or the job ending, go to Step 5.
Step 5
Select the ‘Wk1’ or ‘Wk2’ from the toolbar. You will taken to the ‘Work Details’ screen
select ‘History’ from the toolbar
check the list that appears.
If the ‘Disability’ history is greyed out, go to Step 6.
If the ‘Disability’ history is not greyed out
select the ‘disability’ history from the options available
check the end date to see if the disability element has ended within 28 days of the decrease in hours or the job ending and make a note on the TC648 of the date it ended
go to Step 6.
Step 6
Select ‘History’ from the toolbar
Note: On 6 April 2012 the 50+ element of tax credits ended, irrespective of the length of time the element had been in payment.
check the list that appears.
If the ‘50+’ history is greyed out
take no further action.
If the ‘50+’ history isn’t greyed out
select the ‘50+’ history
check the end date to see if the 50+ element has ended within 28 days of the decrease in hours or the job ending and make a note on the TC648 of the date it ended
take no further action.
